5 Days - Tamil Nadu Tour (Mahabalipuram to Madurai)

Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, is called the 'Gateway to the South'. Since Tamil Nadu is called cradle of old ancient culture, we move on through the city in the morning to Kanchipuram,the Golden city of Thousand Temples.

In the afternoon, we move on further to Mahabalipuram, locating the ancient-most temple complex and relics of the ancient-most city and then to ancient coastal Port south of Madras. Here you will see many sculptures and temples of typical south Indian architectural forms and artistry.

60 km early morning drive from Chennai to Mahabalipuram covers a visit to Srirangam falling en-route. Srirangam is a small Island within the water stream of the River Cavery.

This island town is known for its Vishnu Temple bounded by seven walls. Another tourist attraction here is the Lingam submerged in water of River Cavery . On arrival at Trichy, check- in the hotel.

Rest, refresh and take lunch there before afternoon tour of Trichy city, representing a fine blending of tradition with modernity. Places to visit here are Rock Fort, located a massive rock with few local hamlets dispersed around and Ganpati Temple after climbing 434 rock-cut steps to reach the location of the temple at thehill-top.

In the forenoon, we will tour around in the city while exploring exotica namely Lord Robert Clive's house and the Danish Church. In the afternoon, we drive from Trichy to Tanjore.

On arrival at Tanjore, check- in the hotel, fresh up and have your lunch. Get ready in the afternoon for the tour to explore the exotica in Tanjore.
Tanjore, a city of art and music, is a cultural centre for Carnatic music and dance.  It is city of craftsmen too producing  traditional musical instruments and handicrafts.   

Tanjore (Thanjavur) is known for its famous Brahadeeswarar Temple. The temple was got constructed by a Chola King millennium back.  Other attractions of Tanjore are Art Gallery and the Saraswathi Mahal Library.

We start our tour in morning within the city of Thanjore while to visiting  temples built between 10th and 14th century. In the afternoon, we drive out from Tanjore to Madurai.
