Tour Itinerary

On arrival at Arrive Chennai International Airport, our representative will receive you and transport you to the hotel for stay overnight.

After the breakfast in the morning, we will set out for the tour in the city of Chennai (formerly Madras).  It is the capital city of Tamil Nadu and called gate-way to South India. 

The places to visit in Chennai are Fort St. George, St. Mary's Church which is the oldest Anglican Church in India, Shri Parthasarathy and Kapaliswara Temples (both built by Pallavas in the 8th century AD),  San Thomas Cathedral Basilica and and Theosophical Society Centre ( the world headquarters of the Theosophical Society) .

Other places to visit in Chennai are Government Museum and National Art Gallery, Crocodile Breeding Farm, Gandhi Memorial and  Kala- Kshetra ( Arts-region).
 
Important beach in Chennai is Marina Beach with facilities for adventure sports like para-sailing, gliding, windsurfing, cruising, etc. 

Back to the hotel for overnight stay.

After breakfast, 60 km early morning drive from Chennai to Mahabalipuram starts. Kanchipuram lies en-route where we stop for a visit.

Kanchipuram, a city of thousand temples, is one of the seven sacred cities of Hindus.  Kanchi (now Kanchipuram) was once the capital of the early Cholas dynasty during the 2nd century BC.  Besides, Kanchipuram is a centre for Silk Sari Weaving

You see the weavers working on their loom to produce the world-famous silk fabric in their traditional way and buy the fabric too.

After this visit, we drive on for overnight stay at a hotel at Mahabalipuram.

After breakfast in the hotel, our day long visits start.

The main place to visit here its Shore Temple, located on the coast-line.  This temple is a rock-cut structure with rock carvings in the typical Dravidian architecture style.  Besides, explore also the remnants of 124 rock-cut shrines and other monuments mostly excavated from deep sands.

After breakfast, we leave the hotel for our onward drive to Chidambaram. On arrival, stay overnight in a hotel.

After early morning breakfast at hotel, forenoon tour of Chidambaram city starts which includes visit to temple of Lord Natraja at Chidambram.

In the afternoon, we drive straight to Tanjore.

After breakfast at hotel, the tour of Tanjore starts. Tanjore is a city of art and music.  It is a cultural centre for Carnatic music and dance.  It is also a city of craftsmen engaged in producing traditional musical instruments and handicrafts.  

Tanjore (Thanjavur) is known for its famous Brahadeswara Temple. The temple was got constructed by the Chola King Raja Rajan a millennium back.  Other attractions of Tanjore are Art Gallery and the Saraswathi Mahal Library.

In the afternoon, drive to Trichy and overnight stay in a hotel on arrival.

After breakfast in the hotel, the half-day sightseeing in the city of Trichy starts. Trichy city represents a fine blending of tradition with modernity.  Places to visit in the trichy city are Lord Robert Clive's house and the Danish Church.

Monumental places that lie outside the city on the long hill range are Rock Fort and Ganpati Temple.  Rock Fort is located at a massive rock with few local hamlets dispersed around.  Climb 434 rock-cut steps to reach the hill-top where the ancient temple of Ganapati devoted to Lord Shiva is located. 


In the afternoon, drive straight to Madurai.  On arrival, stay overnight in a hotel at Madurai.

The day starts with morning sightseeing tour of Madurai, known as Athens of the East.  Second largest city on the banks of the River Vigai, Madurai is at least 2500 years old city.  The city is named after nectar (Mathuram) that fell from Shiva's locks when he came to bless its people for constructing a temple for him.

Madurai is famous for its Meenakshi-Sundareswara Temple. The main attractions of the temple are 1000-pillared hall and the stone sculptures carved on the pillars. Some pillars are musical and produce metallic sounds when hit gently. Other places for visits in Madurai  are Tirumala Nayak Palace and Museum.

In the afternoon, we will drive straight to Periyar Kerala.

On arrival, stay overnight in a hotel.

After breakfast, we are to visit  Periyar wildlife sanctuary.  In the afternoon, we drive to Kottayam from where we are to sail in a boat through backwaters to reach our destination, Alleppey.

After the breakfast at hotel, the forenoon city tour starts.

In Alappuzha, called Venice of the East, Alleppey is famous beach. It is a picturesque site with the remnants of the once thriving port, a thousand feet pier to shelter the boats and ships and an old lighthouse. There are also other colonial buildings around. The facilities for surfing and parasailing are available.

In the afternoon, drive to Kovalam and stay there overnight in a hotel.

After breakfast at hotel, set out for full-day sightseeing tour.  Kovalam has a fine Beach amidst the scenic beauty where you may spend your day at leisure before retiring to the hotel for overnight stay.

After early breakfast, enjoy the scene of the rising sun at the beach and roam around in the forenoon. Afternoon is scheduled for departure journey for Trivandrum.

After breakfast, we are out for a full-day city tour. Located on the low coastal hills near the southern edge, Trivendum (Thiruvananthapuram) is a green city with backwaters splashing deep inside. It is an ancient city which once served as a main trading centre during 1000 BC.
